Terms & Policies


At Rubia Wine Cellars, we are committed to protecting your privacy.  The winery will not sell, give, lend or otherwise distribute your personal information without your permission to any other person or entity that is not part of the processing or shipping of your wine order.  

The winery’s online ordering and customer service website is hosted by a third-party e-commerce vendor.  This vendor uses secure server technology for all transactions on the site. The secure server software encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. In addition, all your customer data is protected against unauthorized access.  All customer payment card information resides in a secure online vault at a specialized payments processor, Stripe, on the winery’s server, or that of our e-commerce vendor.  Stripe facilitates payment without ever releasing the actual card information to the winery or our e-commerce vendor.  Stripe is a PCI level 1 validated provider.  This is the highest level of security certification offered in the payment processing industry.


Orders placed in our online store are processed immediately by our system.


Appropriate sales taxes and fees will be applied to shipments as required by state and local tax authorities in the following states: CA, GA, IL, and TX.


The winery will charge your card when your order is being finalized and forwarded to our shipping warehouse. Payment for all orders must be in US currency.


Rubia Wine Cellars orders are shipped from temperature-controlled facilities in CA. Many states have quantity limits in place. Our policy is to abide by all applicable state laws.  For all consumer-direct wine shipments, prior to shipping, the winery uses an outside service to verify legal compliance, and the age of the recipient.  The winery will not ship wine to any recipient that is not at least 21 years of age.

Shipping charges will be calculated automatically in our online store.  We have chosen the shipper with the best shipping record for your area. In most cases, this will be UPS 2-Day. Shipments within CA are sent UPS Ground.  If you have a preferred shipper or other special needs, please contact the winery directly at 707.948.6741 or orders@rubiawinecellars.com.


We strongly recommend shipping to a business where someone over the age of 21 years old is available to sign for your package.  You must provide your e-mail address to receive shipping notifications.  Please let us know of any dates during which time no one will be available to accept and sign for your wine delivery. Deliveries will arrive Tuesday through Friday. All packages will be labeled “Adult Signature Required.” Wine can only be received by a person who is 21 years of age or older with proper identification. In some cases, your shipment may arrive in two or more separate boxes. It is your responsibility to make sure someone is there to sign for the packages. We may delay shipments due to weather conditions observed from our end. 


Please inspect all packages as soon as they are received. Should any bottle(s) be broken during shipping, please email us immediately at orders@rubiawinecellars.com or call 707.948.6741, so that we can pursue a claim with the shipping company.  Returns for shipping damage cannot be processed after 10 days. In most cases, we will arrange to have the wine picked up. If possible, please keep the original package and its contents exactly as you found them.  Note: If the broken product cannot be retrieved, you cannot receive compensation for the loss.


Any return claim due to a defect in the product will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.  The winery may replace the bottle or issue a credit if inventory is not available.  In some cases, the winery may offer replacement with a different vintage of the same wine.

To initiate a claim, please keep the bottle, its unused contents and the cork.  Wine or other items should not be returned without prior approval from the winery.  To process a return, contact the winery at 707.948.6741 or orders@rubiawinecellars.com

For all orders that are shipped and refused, the customer will be credited the cost of the product minus any and all shipping charges.
